2026 CNY Street Food Hunting
Whenever I mention my hometown to travelers from abroad, I'm almost always met with a polite, blank stare. And even among Chinese friends, the conversation often goes something like: "Oh, Guizhou? That's near Guilin, right?" Everyone knows Yunnan. Everyone's been to Sichuan. Guilin in Guangxi is practically a postcard. But Guizhou? Still a hidden corner on the map.
To be fair, even within China, people are only just beginning to realize that Guizhou holds its own against its better-known neighbors—stunning landscapes, rich cultural diversity, and a cool mountain escape in the scorching summer months. So why the mystery?
Probably a mix of things. Marketing, for one. And that's where I come in. Last summer (2025), I started documenting my bike trip through the province, but unfortunately fell sick right after arriving in Guiyang. Work halted. Now, during this Chinese New Year, I've picked up where I left off—scouting, tasting, exploring. My mission? To put Guizhou on the map for curious travelers. To bring more people to experience the province I call home.
Consider this the beginning. Here are a few treasures I uncovered just before the CNY festivities kicked off.
